Sophia Adesoye

Sophia joined GGI in January 2022 as a Project Support and Research Intern. Prior to joining GGI she obtained her Master’s Degree (MSc) in International Development: Politics, Governance and Development Policy from the University of Manchester.

Sophia was born and raised in (Central/Northern) Nigeria where “corruption” and “bad governance” were terms she heard used far too often to describe the state of the country. The realisation that the level of poverty and inequality in her country was not due to lack of resources but mismanagement and corruption was what ignited the desire in Sophia to pursue social justice and to bring about change herself.

She went on to obtain a BA International Development from the University of Leeds before pursuing her Master’s Degree at the University of Manchester.

Outside of work Sophia enjoys reading, music, learning languages and immersing herself in global culture.
