Biography

Jonathan is an experienced non-executive director, chair and board-level adviser able to draw on experiences in non executive and top-team executive roles across private, public and voluntary sectors.

Jonathan draws on a broad portfolio of activity, including chairing organisations and a multi-agency board (SocietyWorks ltd, In2ScienceUK, the Improvement and Development Board for Local Councils), non-executive directorship (mySociety), retained strategic advisory roles (currently with FutureGov, Connected Places Catapult), high impact advisory roles, coaching, and business angel investment.

Jonathan's sector breadth adds value to organisations that need to engage with public sector as well as helping support public and not-for-profit sector change. NED/advisory roles allow experience to be shared in a highly leveraged and effective way. Particularly experienced in supporting organisational growth through helping identify and build organisational infrastructure for growth and also by deploying my extensive networks to gain insights.

Jonathan was formerly a member of the independent service transformation challenge panel appointed by Treasury and DCLG, managing director of a consulting business, commercial development director for a major financial services company, deputy chief executive of a county council (including many multi-agency boards), local government executive head-hunter and advisor, and local government sector strategist for a FTSE-50 company.

As a non-exec for over 20 years he has chaired arts organisations, served as a director and audit chair for a world-class research institute, and been a governor and committee chair (audit, then finance & commercial) for London's leading adult education college.

Jonathan is an alumnus of the Cabinet Office top management programme and a fellow of the OR Society, Chartered Management Institute, Institute of Directors and the RSA. He has carried out top team and board strategy work for a range of public, private and charitable organisations.

Jonathan is currently working towards becoming a Chartered Director.
