Biography

Chris is the university secretary and registrar at London Metropolitan University, acting both as clerk to the university's board of governors as well as being a member of the senior leadership team. His role covers most areas of central higher education governance and compliance.

Chris previously worked in governance roles at SOAS University of London, Kingston University and Imperial College London. Each institution is unique and these roles gave him a broad and deep understanding of most of the issues within the sector.

Chris became aware of GGI through its work in reviewing governance best practice and was very interested to see the lessons the higher education sector can learn from others, in particular those such as the NHS. This has become even more relevant with the changes taking place around the regulation of universities.

Chris served as chair of the Association of University Administrators (AUA) from 2018-2020 and is a governor at his local primary school. Outside work he is an avid climber, runner and cyclist – although not particularly good at any of them.
