Aidan Rave supports senior leaders and boards to make better decisions in complex, high-pressure environments. His work focuses on strengthening governance, leadership and organisational design so that organisations can perform well, adapt quickly and deliver public value.

Aidan brings deep, practical experience from across the public, voluntary and health sectors. He is a former local authority chief executive and elected member and has held senior roles as a corporate director in national charities, a senior civil servant within the Department of Health and Social Care and the UK Health Security Agency, and a senior consultant in a Big Four environment. This breadth of experience gives him a grounded understanding of how strategy, politics, governance and delivery interact in real organisations.

He is particularly known for his work on culture change, performance turnaround and organisational reset — helping leadership teams address ambiguity, strengthen accountability and improve the quality of decision-making at board and executive level. His approach is practical, candid and focused on impact rather than theory.

At GGi, Aidan works primarily with boards and executive teams on governance reviews, board development, facilitation and senior-level coaching. He has a particular focus on Integrated Care Boards, system leadership and organisational design, supporting leaders to navigate complexity while maintaining grip on quality, safety and performance.

Aidan has previously held a number of high-profile non-executive roles, including as a Senior Independent Director at Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB, Yorkshire Forward and the Improvement & Development Agency for Local Government.

He holds a degree in Social Sciences, an MSc in Human Resources Management and an MBA, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Outside work, Aidan can usually be found cooking, escaping for some fresh air (probably on the golf course) and spending time with his family.
