Keeping the NHS Great Report on the discussions held at Labour and Conservative party conference dinners

November 2014

Following the successful publishing of our paper, Keeping the NHS Great: Delivering technology enabled care services, GGI and our partner in writing the paper Tunstall Healthcare UK, presented it at the Labour and Conservative party conferences.

We hosted dinners at both and had a number of high level officials from across the health, housing and social care sectors. Following the discussions that took place we have now produced a summary report and highlighted some of the key messages that we received:

The paradox is that the health services is really good at technology but it’s a technology for the profession, rather than the citizen

How do you add quality to life as well as years to life? Having the right housing is key

Prevention is not a priority for funding

We have to think about cost effective, high quality services as principals of the system, instead of treatments, time and tasks

You need to get the new model in place before you close the old – to show people how good it is

We are always looking for feedback on our work and we have run an open forum on the findings of the paper. We invite you to join.
