Focus has been given to models that can be scaled across the NHS and the options explored have ranged from buddying, partnerships and federations, through to formal consolidation through mergers and acquisitions. Although evaluation of the vanguards is ongoing, NHS Improvement report that:
“The ACC have made huge progress, learning from each other to make improvements in the quality of care. This has meant that savings of over £13 million have been made over the second year of the programme (2016/17).”
