Biography

David Stoker joined GGI in June 2021 as a Senior Communications Officer. His role includes social media, events, knowledge management and project management.

He has worked in roles centred on communications in the public and nonprofit sectors over a career lasting 12 years. His talent lies in taking a lot of information, distilling the core insights and presenting this creatively using copywriting and visual metaphors.

Most recently, he has been telling engaging stories about research to increase its reach and real-world impact in the fields of education (UCL Institute of Education) and renewable energy (Imperial College). David has generated varied original content, including blogs, data visualisations and short films. He has managed a webinar series, and led on an organisation’s rebrand. He has won press coverage in major news outlets and doubled the number of followers in audiences.

David’s background is primarily in impact reporting in education. Past roles included being Policy Officer at Citizens Advice and performance and intelligence officer at Surrey County Council’s children’s directorate. He brings a passion for public service and helping the common good.

David completed a Masters in Public Policy and Governance at the University of Amsterdam in 2017. Specifically, David’s research focused on how citizens can have a meaningful say in decisions that affect them. David also holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Sussex.

Outside of work, David enjoys painting watercolours, music making and is passionate about community initiatives. He leads a running club that volunteers and founded a community-led housing project.
