Biography

Jonathan is director of professional policy at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) where he is responsible for regulatory policy, strategy and conduct standards.

Since 2017, he has also been a trustee of the Science Council, and was appointed non-executive director of Social Work England (SWE) in 2018.

Jonathan has worked in policy, strategy and governance globally across several professional and regulatory bodies. In 2015 he was head of regulatory affairs at the Press Recognition Panel (PRP), where he developed the regulatory framework for recognising press self-regulators following the Leveson Inquiry.

Jonathan is particularly interested in the role governance plays in producing better regulatory outcomes within businesses, and in the way in which regulators themselves are governed. He is also a champion for diversity on boards – helping to ensure that fairer, innovative and more informed decisions are taken by organisations.
