Breaking the obsession with the short term

The open secret for those leading our public-purpose organisations is that we are in an unproductive loop of over-concentration on the immediate and insufficient focus on the medium and longer term.
In the McKinsey parlance explained in their insightful Three Horizons model, we obsess with Horizon 1 (the here and now) and the cost of Horizons 2 (the 'known known’ innovations of three years’ time) and 3 (the ‘known unknown’ business model of a decade’s time).
Good governance is a future-looking discipline, and we know from the literature that high performing boards exhibit a forward-looking approach to working at all three horizons.
In this webinar we will be discussing how to break the tyranny of short-termism and how to build public purpose organisations that are healthy and sustainable.
