Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS FT was seen as a high-performing NHS organisation until September 2022, when Panorama broadcast shocking footage from the Edenfield Unit revealing the abuse and bullying of patients.
In November, CQC issued warning notices and NHS England placed the trust into the Recovery Support programme. Reports and inquiries followed, but for the last three years the trust, under new leadership, has worked hard to improve and in November left the Recovery Support Programme with governance, quality and patient safety as areas for particular praise.
So how did this happen?
Tony Warne, the trust chair announced in late 2023 and a regular at the GGi NHS NEDs webinars, will share the story and reveal what he has learnt along the way about how to work with regulators and the inquiries, but critically keep the focus on substantive improvements, the care of patients and the wellbeing of staff.
As always, the usual Chatham House Rule applies for what will be a fascinating hour.
This webinar is open to all NHS non-executive directors, chairs, independent members and associate non-executive directors of NHS providers.
