Roger Hymas, GGI Associate
Roger Hymas is the founder of www.commissioningcommunity.co.uk,
a website set up to introduce health care commissioning services providers to GP consortia. Roger has worked on World Class Commissioning projects with over thirty PCTs since he completed his secondment to Hampshire PCT as Director of Commissioning in April 2008.
Roger entered the health care industry in 1992 becoming CEO of BUPA’s insurance division and chief strategy officer for the BUPA group.
In 1998 he became a founding Director of Health Dialog in Boston, USA where he worked on applying the intellectual property surrounding treatment practice variation and patient choice to serve
the needs of over 20 million members of US health insurance companies. At the same time he co-founded the New York
based health care Internet site, newsrounds.com – an independent, personalised Internet news service for physicians – acquired from Reuters plc in 1997 and sold in September 2000. He advised the
leading US health plan Humana between 2005-2010.
Prior to BUPA, he worked in senior management positions for leading blue chip companies such as The Automobile Association, American Express, GE and The Burton Group.
